Safety & ESG

Occupational Safety

We set the correct example at the top and then strictly enforce standards and policies, provide training, increase awareness, and share information in an effort to continuously lower risk and guarantee the safety of all employees. There are fourteen components that are applicable to every aspect of our business in our Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) Management System Standard. ISO 45001, the Energy Institute Process Safety Management Framework, and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Standard Number 510 are among the important external standards and management system models that this standard is in line with. Through the HSES Committee, our Board has approved it, and it lays out the minimal requirements for HSES management.

In 2022, changes were made to the industrial safety, labor protection, and emergency management (OHS) organizational structures. Up until March 2022, the company’s Production and Technical Department handled issues related to safety, health, and emergency situations. In March 2022, the LLP Olimpgaz Board decided to create the Health, Safety & Environment Service (HSE Service), a separate structural entity that would report directly to the board chairman.

HSE operations and tasks are carried out by the head of the HSE Service and employees of structural units that supervise their structural units in this area in the subsidiaries and affiliates. Every employee of the organization is also directly responsible for following HSE regulations within the limitations of their job descriptions. In 2022, the firm established a Committee on Labor Protection, Industrial Safety, and Environmental Protection under the LLP Olimpgaz Management Board to plan and supervise the implementation of labor protection and industrial safety measures.

The company makes every effort to improve health and safety protocols. To encourage employee engagement in creating safe working conditions in the workplace, the “Incentive and Consequence Management Program” documented procedure was established in 2022. In 2022, LLP Olimpgaz continued to use the “Plan – Do – Check – Act” methodology, which is the main force for the creation of HSE protocols. There are eleven Occupational Safety and Health Councils (henceforth referred to as the Councils) at LLP Olimpgaz, including the Central Office. The Councils include technical labor protection inspectors and all members of trade unions.

Each head of the HSE structural unit ensures control over the implementation of both internal and external audits of production processes at the management level. Under the supervision of LLP Olimpgaz, on-site internal audits were carried out in the Atyrau region during the reporting period. Representatives of LLP Olimpgaz carried out on-site audits in accordance with the schedules and plans for on-site inspections. Based on the results of each examination, a protocol is created.

Safety performance and learnings from recent incidents are discussed at our monthly global town halls and feature regularly on the agendas of team meetings and other employee events. We recognise exceptional individual and team safety performance through our annual CEO Safety Awards. Colleagues can nominate individuals or teams for demonstrating good safety outcomes – from extended injury-free performance on an asset, to the introduction of new ways of working or a change in facility design to reduce safety risks.
